Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Drone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reginald Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drone comes to the cage accompanied by t.i and ludacris-wish you would. The crowd seem to be enjoying Lewis's choice of entrance music: Enter Sandman. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
27 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyson Drone! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Reginald Lewis! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lewis is trying hard to land a takedown here. Drone sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Lewis shoots and misses and Drone holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Lewis lands a takedown into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Drone looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Drone is looking for a triangle but Lewis pushes his legs off easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Drone throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Drone working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lewis. Drone is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lewis is aware though and is defending well. Lewis throws a strike but Drone rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Lewis wants to get back to his feet but Drone passes into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lewis trying to control from the bottom.
Drone is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Drone seems to be working for a kimura but Lewis defends the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Drone is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Lewis has managed to free his arm - good work. Lewis desperately trying to maintain half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Drone wants to work for an arm triangle but Lewis is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Drone seems to be looking for submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Drone has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Lewis works to full guard. Drone drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lewis looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lewis looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lewis! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Drone sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tyson Drone dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Lewis looks for a takedown but Drone sprawls well. Lewis shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Lewis showed some decent athleticism there. Drone looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Lewis not landing any meaningful shots this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lewis drops an elbow to the side of Drone's head. Drone looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The fighters are battling for position here. Drone manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lewis distracts Drone with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Lewis is in close to Drone's body, working some short punches and elbows. Drone is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lewis is aware though and is defending well. Drone escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lewis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Lewis loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Drone is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Lewis throws a big elbow that misses. Lewis throws a sloppy strike and Drone has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Lewis is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Drone!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Tyson Drone! Tyson Drone was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
