Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Case (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Cole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Case!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Case shoots in and drives through. Cole sprawls well.
Cole fails to land the takedown.

and Case counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cole's guard now.
Cole is trying to keep Case in close.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Case throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cole's waist but Cole gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Case off to one side.
Cole fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Cole is breathing heavily.
Horrible takedown by Cole or perhaps it was just good defense by Case which made him look bad.
Cole tries to close the distance and clinch but Case swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Case throws a head punch that misses.

Cole has Case pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Case manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Case is pressed up against the cage. Cole has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Case down to the mat. Case avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Case closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Cole to the mat! Cole manages to get full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cole is on top in guard.

Cole gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Cole fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
John Case seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cole lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Cole feints and as Case raises his hands in defense, Cole changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Cole seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Case can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A close second round but John Case will probably get the nod - 10:9.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

and Cole counters with a three punch combo that has Case backing up. Case nods at Cole to acknowledge the strikes.
Case looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cole is fending him off so far but Case persists. Nope, Cole circles away and we're back to standing.
Cole closes this distance looking for a takedown but Case circles away.
Case shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cole as he jumps to the side.
Case fails with a takedown attempt.
John Cole has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Case.
Case takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Cole shoots in but Case avoids the takedown attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Case pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Cole. No joy for Case on that attempt.

Case feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Cole is doing well to control the position and prevent Case from advancing to side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Case prevents Cole from improving his position.

Cole is defending against the submission attempts here by Case.
Case really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cole. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Case stands up and beckons Cole to join him on the feet.

Case throws a right hand that Cole ducks under and follows up with a left that Cole also avoids with ease.

Case on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Case has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Cole avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Cole is pressed up against the cage. Case has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cole down to the mat. Cole avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Case looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cole is fending him off so far but Case persists. Nope, Cole circles away and we're back to standing.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to John Case.
I've got Case winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
