Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ren Akita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shingo Yamamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ren Akita!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Shingo Yamamoto!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Akita shoots in and bounces Yamamoto off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
Yamamoto is looking to stand up but Akita isn't so interested in that idea.

Akita working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Akita postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Yamamoto is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Akita, into his guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Akita is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Yamamoto has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Yamamoto!

Akita escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Yamamoto gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Akita has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Yamamoto is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Akita.

Akita creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Yamamoto sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Yamamoto throws a nice looking combination but Akita bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Akita shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Yamamoto as he jumps to the side.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Yamamoto is on top in guard.

Akita is looking for a triangle but Yamamoto pushes his legs off easily.

Yamamoto not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Akita isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Yamamoto stacks Akita on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Yamamoto!

Akita shoots in for a double leg but Yamamoto sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Yamamoto throws a head kick that half lands.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Akita is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Yamamoto is just riding it out for now. Akita eventually gives up the hold.
Yamamoto really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Akita. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Yamamoto is not content to let Akita control the position.

Akita is working for a kimura but Yamamoto is defending it quite comfortably.
Shingo Yamamoto has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Akita seems to be looking for submissions.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ren Akita.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Akita, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
