Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Henderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dewey Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cox comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Guilty As Charged kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dan Henderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dewey Cox!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Donatello Bradman and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Cox.
Henderson misses with a hook
and Cox counters with a head kick.
Cox slips a jab and a cross from Henderson.
Henderson swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Henderson gets caught flat footed, as Cox shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Cox stands up and waves to Henderson to follow him.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cox.
A big right from Henderson misses.
Henderson looks to land a combination but Cox avoids it well.
Henderson throws a looping overhand right but Cox ducks down to avoid it.
Henderson misses with an uppercut
and Cox counters with a head kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cox uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Henderson.
Henderson throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Cox moves into the clinch.
Henderson tries to break free but Cox pushes him back against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Cox pulls Henderson into guard.
Henderson trying to control the position from guard on top but Cox is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cox working a defensive guard here.
Henderson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Cox is pulling down on Henderson's head to control his posture.
Let's hope that Cox has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dewey Cox was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Henderson throws a series of punches but Cox avoids them all with ease.
Cox walks into a straight right hand from Henderson.

Cox shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cox not doing much here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Henderson is looking to escape.
Henderson is trying to control but can't.
Henderson pushes Cox off looking to stand but Cox dives back in and keeps control.
Henderson tries to roll over but Cox keeps him under control.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Dewey Cox wasn't active enough on the ground.
Henderson misses the jab.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cox ducks under a wild hook from Henderson.
Cox moves out of range of the strikes.
Henderson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cox.
Henderson scores with a sloppy right hand. Cox should have avoided that one.
Cox shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Henderson but Henderson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Dan Henderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dewey Cox.
Henderson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Henderson is breathing heavily.
Henderson misses with a lunging right hand
and Henderson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Henderson throws an off balance right hand
and Cox counters with an inside leg kick.
Henderson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Henderson misses with a right hand
and Cox makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Henderson really felt that one!

Cox instigates a clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cox breaks the clinch.

Cox closes the distance and pushes Henderson back into the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Henderson trying to control the position but instead, Cox has worked for underhooks and has pushed Henderson into the cage.

Cox is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Henderson can't fight it off and eventually Cox manages to take the fight to the floor. Henderson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Cox controls from within his opponent's guard.
Cox slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Cox slows the pace down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dewey Cox dominated that round.
That's time! Henderson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Henderson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Henderson shoots in for a takedown but Cox shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Dan Henderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cox blocks a jab.
Cox misses with a takedown

so Henderson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Henderson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Cox manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Cox swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Dewey Cox!
After winning the bout, Dewey Cox thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
