Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mark Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shigeo Miyato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Edwards might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Who - Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting. Miyato has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
17 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Edwards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shigeo Miyato!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Eliza Hachem and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Edwards moves out of range of the leg kick from Miyato.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
A low kick from Miyato misses
and Edwards makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Miyato looks winded!
Edwards jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Edwards connects with the punch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Miyato throws a half hearted mid kick.

and Edwards counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Edwards thows a body shot but no joy.
The fighters circling - Edwards throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Edwards throws a nice outside leg kick.
Edwards connects with a body shot that sends Miyato's belly button to the back.
Edwards connects with a solid leg kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Edwards keeps Miyato at a distance using the push kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Edwards lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
A jab from Edwards finds it's way through Miyato's defenses.
Miyato is rocked!
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Edwards engages and cracks Miyato with a massive lead left hook - Miyato tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Edwards is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Mark Edwards!
Mark Edwards bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
