Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jon Haws (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Devon James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Haws comes to the cage accompanied by Sound System. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Haws!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Devon James!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A bone on bone clash there as Haws blocks the leg kick.
Haws tries to bum rush James with a series of wild strikes but James uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Haws throws a half hearted mid kick.
Haws looks to land a combination but James avoids it well.
Haws closes the distance looking to clinch
and James counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
James dodges the punch combination from Haws.
Haws throws a right and a left that James avoids nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Haws throws a head kick but James moves out of range.
James lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Haws circles away quickly and effectively.
James misses with a jab, cross combination.
James misses with a few strikes there.
Haws takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Haws throws a combination that misses
and Haws takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Haws thows a leg kick but James checks it
enabling James to counter with a crisp jab.
James looks for a takedown but Haws sprawls well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A head kick misses from Haws.

James closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
James can't get the takedown.
Haws fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Haws tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and James avoids it.
James drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jon Haws has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Devon James.
Haws looks to throw an elbow but misses.

James avoids a wild elbow strike from Haws.

James gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Haws wants to get back to full guard.
James is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Haws works his way to full guard. Good work.
James trying to control but Haws is working from the bottom.
James throwing strikes but missing.
Haws wants to stand up but James is controlling him.

Haws is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Haws looking to hit a scissor sweep but James is one step ahead there.

Haws looking for a guillotine here but James defends easily.
James postures up and lands a big shot to Haws's brow.

Haws had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. James defends it easily.
James lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
James content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
James has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as James accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Haws wants to sweep here but James controlling him for the moment.
James with a nice head shot there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Devon James dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Haws walks into a stiff left hand from James.
Haws misses with a double jab.
James shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Devon James seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Haws tries to close the distance and clinch but James swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

James clinches up with Haws and pushes him back against the cage.
James is trying to break free.
James blocks the elbow strike.
James blocks the elbow strike.

James breaks the clinch.
Haws tries to clinch there but James circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round.

James lands a left and a right that send Haws crashing to the mat, dazed. James thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Haws is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
James is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Haws hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Devon James!
