Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jeff Foster! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tye Mead! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Colin Fotheringham and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Foster fails to land the takedown. Foster feints and as Mead raises his hands in defense, Foster changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Foster is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Mead keeping moving, preventing Foster from controlling successfully. Mead really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Foster. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Mead is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Foster defends well. Foster trying to control the position from guard on top but Mead is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Foster is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Mead is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Mead has escaped and now he's on top! Mead looking to pass the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mead slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Foster throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Foster is looking for a triangle but Mead pushes his legs off easily.
Foster has his foot on Mead's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mead works his way back into a safe position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mead pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Foster is keeping the position for now. Foster looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mead is one step ahead there. This has been an exciting period of action! Foster pushes a forearm under Mead's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Mead is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
