Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sylvain Sauvage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cristian Carver!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Alexandre Firmino and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carver circles away from the clinch attempt.
Carver moves away from the strike by Sauvage.
Sauvage looks to land a body kick but Carver moved away.
Sauvage throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Carver drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Sauvage looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Carver with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Sauvage lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Carver is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Sauvage thows a huge punch but Carver dodges it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sauvage keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Carver.
Sauvage ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Carver takes a swing at Sauvage's ribcage but misses.
Cristian Carver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Crunch! Sauvage slams his shin into Carver's torso.
Carver waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Sauvage.

It looks like Cristian Carver has been cut.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sauvage wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Sauvage is trying to keep Carver in close.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Carver throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sauvage stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sauvage is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Carver throws a nice looking combination but Sauvage bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Sauvage creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Carver's defenses.

Sauvage wants the takedown. Carver is fighting it off but Sauvage persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Carver's guard against the cage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carver has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Sauvage.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Sauvage has Carver pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Carver manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Carver wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
