Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 16 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kiko Kaluma! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Smith! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kaluma tries a head kick but it misses.
Smith rushes Kaluma and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Kaluma is trying to drag Smith to the mat but Smith just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Smith lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Smith effectively controlling the action here. Kaluma is looking to take this one to the mat. Kaluma tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kiko Kaluma. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kaluma tries a knee to the head but Smith blocks it.
Smith with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Kaluma wants a takedown but no success here.

That's one minute gone in the round. Smith moves in looking to clinch but Kaluma pushes him off. The fight moves into the clinch position. Smith with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Kaluma is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Smith is defending well for now. Smith using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

Kaluma tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Smith just stands there and leans against the cage. The referee is keeping an eye on Smith - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Kaluma is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Smith gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith stalling.
Kaluma changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Smith fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch but Kaluma swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Smith has Kaluma up against the cage in a clinch.
Kaluma tries to pull guard but Smith forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Smith lands a knee to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kaluma has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Smith is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Smith taking a breather. Smith connects with a knee to the head.
Kaluma jumps guard but Smith stands there with Kaluma around his waist. Kaluma gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Smith lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kaluma has had enough of the clinch but Smith keeps him there for the moment. Kaluma jumps guard but Smith turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Kaluma drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Smith gets the underhooks and prevents it.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Smith blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Smith is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Kaluma jumps guard but Smith stands there with Kaluma around his waist. Kaluma gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith working Kaluma over with knees to the body. Kaluma is breathing heavily. Smith gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Stalling in the clinch from Smith.
Kaluma really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Smith lands a damaging elbow.
Kaluma is rocked!
It looks like Kiko Kaluma has been cut. Clinched against the cage, Smith lands a big elbow that drops Kaluma! The ref dives in to save him from more shots - Kaluma is complaining that he's OK but he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matt Smith!
