PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Keita Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Burak Buraczany (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burak Buraczany told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Keita Aoki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Burak Buraczany!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Matheus Silva and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aoki circles away from the clinch attempt.

Aoki clinches with his opponent.
Buraczany wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Aoki escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Aoki avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Buraczany throws a combination that misses
and Aoki counters with a body kick.

Buraczany is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Aoki works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Aoki pushes Buraczany back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Buraczany tries to break free but Aoki pushes him back against the cage.

Aoki escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Aoki dives in and scores a takedown into Buraczany's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Aoki wants to pass the guard but Buraczany is keeping the position.
Aoki wants to get up but he can't break Buraczany's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Aoki is pushing down on Buraczany's leg trying to pass to half guard. Buraczany is fighting to maintain full guard but Aoki has managed to sneak the leg through.

Buraczany looks like he's trying to stand up.

Buraczany should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Aoki seems to be working for a kimura but Buraczany defends the submission attempt.
Aoki will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Aoki is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Buraczany defends it well.

Buraczany looks like he's trying to stand up.
Aoki wants to stand up but Buraczany is controlling the position.

Aoki is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Buraczany has managed to free his arm - good work.

Aoki is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Buraczany doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Aoki.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Buraczany gets caught flat footed, as Aoki shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Aoki is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Aoki controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Aoki works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Aoki is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Aoki is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Buraczany to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

Aoki won't allow Buraczany to get back to his feet.
Aoki wants to control from the top but Buraczany keeps moving.

Buraczany is trying to maintain a safe position but Aoki gets an underhook and turns Buraczany into the cage.

Aoki closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Aoki lands in his opponent's guard.

Aoki drops back looking for a leg! Buraczany is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Buraczany manages to kick Aoki off! Aoki jumps back into Buraczany's guard.
Buraczany is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Aoki is controlling him.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Aoki has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Buraczany is proving hard to escape from.

and Aoki counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Buraczany wants to break free but Aoki has control.

Aoki fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Buraczany.

Buraczany takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Aoki throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Buraczany trying to control the position but instead, Aoki has worked for underhooks and has pushed Buraczany into the cage.

Aoki has Buraczany pressed against the cage, preventing Buraczany from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Buraczany tries to sprawl but Aoki drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Aoki seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Buraczany does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well Aoki has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
