PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jerry Grapist (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John The Iron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grapist kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Know Your Enemy by Rage Against the Machine. The Iron has chosen Slippin as his entrance music. The key to victory for Jerry Grapist has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John The Iron!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Donatello Bradman and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grapist throws a right and a left that The Iron avoids nicely.
The Iron fails with the takedown
and Grapist counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

The Iron will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jerry Grapist has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John The Iron.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The Iron lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Grapist down.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Grapist takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

The Iron creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

The Iron wants to lay and pray for a moment but Grapist keeps working.
The Iron has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The Iron lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Grapist down.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The Iron drops back looking for a leg! Grapist is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Grapist manages to kick The Iron off! The Iron jumps back into Grapist's guard.
Grapist wants to stand but The Iron is controlling the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John The Iron dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


The Iron shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Grapist misses with a few strikes there.
No luck for The Iron with that takedown attempt.

Grapist gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
The Iron is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Grapist pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Grapist has picked The Iron up - he's going for a ride! Grapist dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The Iron manages to get to full guard.

The Iron has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Grapist can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Grapist got a little sloppy there for a moment and The Iron has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Grapist has managed to get both his arms back between The Iron's legs - danger averted.
Grapist has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Grapist is working The Iron over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
