Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Elmer Goulfinhans! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jacoby Jamison! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jamison misses the shot to the body. Sloppy strikes from Goulfinhans. Those never looked like landing. Jamison with a hook. Goulfinhans tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Goulfinhans shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Goulfinhans thows a left - swing and a miss! Goulfinhans throws a lazy uppercut
and Jamison counters with a one-two to the body. Jamison throws a looping overhand right but Goulfinhans ducks down to avoid it. Jamison gets caught napping as Goulfinhans dives in and scores a takedown. Jamison manages to retain guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Goulfinhans prevents Jamison from getting back to his feet. Jamison has momentary wrist control but Goulfinhans slips an elbow through the middle. Goulfinhans stops Jamison from standing up. Goulfinhans wants to control from the top but Jamison keeps moving. Goulfinhans has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Goulfinhans lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Jamison really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Goulfinhans. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Goulfinhans won't allow Jamison to get back to his feet. Goulfinhans passes into half guard. Goulfinhans takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Goulfinhans landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
It looks like Jacoby Jamison has been cut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Goulfinhans is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Goulfinhans working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Jamison is rocked!
That has opened up Jacoby Jamison's cut even more. Goulfinhans unloads with some huge strikes here! Jamison is out! Goulfinhans wins by brutal knockout!
