Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Enzo Galasso! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Collin May! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! May throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Galasso tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. May is in Galasso's guard. Galasso had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. May defends it easily. May sitting in guard, not really doing much. May in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. May passes easily into side control. Nice work. May trying to control the position but Galasso is working away. The ground and pound from May seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. May is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Galasso knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. May scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Galasso to see if he's OK. May tries for a kimura but Galasso is defending well. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Galasso is trying to get back to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Galasso dodges the ground and pound from May. May fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Galasso tries to buck May off but May is having none of it. May is looking to take a break and control but Galasso is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. An elbow from May crashes against the mat.
May wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Galasso, who protects the arm well. May thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. May throwing shots but missing, from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Galasso tries to get back to half guard but can't. May is trying to get an arm triangle but Galasso is defending well. Galasso sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. May has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. May moves to back control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! May has got one arm under Galasso's chin. This could be trouble... Galasso trying to control the other hand but May gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Galasso has tapped out! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Collin May! A relieved looking Collin May thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
