Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gerry Costello (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Merce Poindexter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Costello comes to the cage accompanied by Bad boys. Merce Poindexter is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gerry Costello! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Merce Poindexter! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Lou da Vinci and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Costello swats away the attempt to clinch by Poindexter. Poindexter tries a head kick but it misses.
Costello blocks a head kick by Poindexter.
Poindexter staying out of range there. Poindexter shoots in but no luck this time. Poindexter wants to clinch. Poindexter misses with a takedown attempt enabling Costello to counter with a crisp jab.
It looks like Merce Poindexter has been cut. Excellent takedown into side control there by Poindexter. Costello can't do much from the bottom here. Costello tries to escape but Poindexter is in control. Costello is trying to improve his position. Costello throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
That's one minute gone in the round. Costello slips under a jab. Poindexter gets in close and instigates a clinch. Costello wants the takedown. Poindexter is fighting it off but Costello persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Poindexter's guard against the cage. Costello not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Poindexter controls Costello momentarily but Costello frees himself. Costello stops Poindexter from standing up. Costello decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Poindexter closes the distance but Costello moves to the side and Costello counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Poindexter has closed the distance and engaged Costello in a clinch.
Poindexter prevents the takedown attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Costello goes for a takedown in the clinch but Poindexter prevents it.

Poindexter wants to break the clinch but can't.
Costello is trying to drag Poindexter to the mat but Poindexter just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gerry Costello. That's going to take a lot out of him. Poindexter prevents a takedown attempt there.
Costello is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Poindexter wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Costello has him pressed against the cage. Poindexter on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Poindexter is trying to push Costello away but Costello has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Poindexter is defending well against a takedown attempt. Poindexter presses Costello against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Costello tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Poindexter smiles and moves away.
Poindexter shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Poindexter was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Costello misses with a strike from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Poindexter tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. You can see the frustration on Costello's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Poindexter is looking to take a break and control but Costello is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Costello tries to get back to half guard but can't. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Poindexter working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Merce Poindexter will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Merce Poindexter's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Poindexter wants to clinch up but Costello keeps it at a distance. Poindexter tries to clinch but Costello moves away and Costello holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Poindexter jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Costello walks away with a smile on his face. Poindexter gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Poindexter tries to clinch but fails miserably and Costello counters with a head kick. Costello fails with an attempt to clinch.
Costello stuffs the takedown attempt from Poindexter. Poindexter gets slowly back to his feet. Poindexter gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Poindexter misses with a punch on the inside.
Costello has Poindexter pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Poindexter manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Poindexter drags the fight down to the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Costello is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Costello passes Poindexter's left leg - he's now in half guard. Poindexter trying to control here.
Poindexter tries to get to full guard but Costello has control of the leg. Costello decides to stand up. Costello throws a sloppy head kick and Poindexter moves out of range easily. Poindexter tries to clinch there but Costello circles away.
Costello avoids the head kick by Poindexter.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Poindexter moves to clinch but Costello breaks away and Costello counters with a nice double leg into guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. This has been an exciting period of action! Costello works a leg free and moves into half guard. Poindexter tries to get to full guard but Costello has control of the leg. Costello with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Costello thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Poindexter is looking for a sweep. Costello is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Gerry Costello wasn't doing enough on the ground. Poindexter shoots and misses and Costello counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Gerry Costello has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Merce Poindexter. Poindexter shoots in for a double leg but Costello sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Poindexter tries to score a power double leg takedown but Costello sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Poindexter somewhat. Poindexter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Costello tries to avoid it but Poindexter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Costello to the ground. Costello escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Costello has Poindexter up against the cage in a clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Poindexter tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Costello breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Poindexter moves into range and clinches up with Costello. Costello has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Poindexter uses from the top position. Costello is looking for a triangle but Poindexter pushes his legs off easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Costello is looking to sinch up a triangle. Poindexter throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Costello's body to avoid the submission. Costello has instead reached around Poindexter's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Costello arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Gerry Costello! A very excited looking Gerry Costello rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
