PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Matt Woodroffe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christopher Pyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Woodroffe's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The Warriors Code. Pyle has chosen Bate Pesadão as his entrance music. Christopher Pyle is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Woodroffe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Christopher Pyle!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Alexandre Firmino and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woodroffe keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Woodroffe smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Woodroffe changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pyle tries to avoid it but Woodroffe manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pyle to the ground. Pyle escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Woodroffe closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Pyle's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Woodroffe stands up over Pyle, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Pyle is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Woodroffe is aware though and is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pyle will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Woodroffe wants to stand and escape but instead Pyle has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Pyle tries to free his leg and advance position but Woodroffe is retaining full guard.
Pyle trying to control but Woodroffe is working from the bottom.
Woodroffe utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Woodroffe wants to stand and escape but Pyle is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Woodroffe knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pyle on the ground.

Woodroffe is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pyle is controlling him.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Christopher Pyle wasn't active enough on the ground.
Woodroffe works over Pyle's head and body with a nice combination.
Pyle looks winded!

Woodroffe forces Pyle back against the cage and clinches.
Woodroffe wants to get back to striking at distance but Pyle won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Woodroffe works on Pyle's body with a couple of short punches.
Pyle has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Woodroffe is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Pyle is trying to maintain a safe position but Woodroffe gets an underhook and turns Pyle into the cage.
Woodroffe is trying to break the clinch but Pyle has him pressed against the cage.
Pyle is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pyle prevents Woodroffe from breaking the clinch.
Woodroffe has Pyle pressed against the cage, preventing Pyle from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Pyle wants a takedown.
Matt Woodroffe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Christopher Pyle.
Woodroffe is trying to break the clinch but Pyle has him pressed against the cage.
Woodroffe wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Woodroffe goes for a takedown attempt but Pyle pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Woodroffe shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Pyle trying to control but Woodroffe postures up.
Pyle has hold of Woodroffe's hands but Woodroffe slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
It looks like Woodroffe is going to stand back up.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Woodroffe working the head and body with strikes.
Woodroffe stalling away here and it's allowed Pyle to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Pyle is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Woodroffe defends well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Woodroffe wants to get up but he can't break Pyle's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Woodroffe's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Pyle throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

Woodroffe decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Pyle, up you get!
Woodroffe scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Pyle closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Woodroffe closes the distance and pushes Pyle back into the cage.
Woodroffe is trying to break the clinch but Pyle has him pressed against the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Woodroffe breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Woodroffe uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Woodroffe shoots in for a takedown but Pyle shows good takedown defense.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Woodroffe dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Woodroffe tries to clinch up.
Woodroffe throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Pyle counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Woodroffe!
Woodroffe on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Woodroffe tries to get out of the position.

Pyle goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Woodroffe has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Pyle but great work by Woodroffe.
Woodroffe lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Pyle down.
Woodroffe tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Pyle gets back to half guard.

Woodroffe is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Pyle has managed to free his arm - good work.
Woodroffe wants to stand but Pyle has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Woodroffe looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Pyle is controlling Woodroffe's trapped leg to prevent Woodroffe from advancing to side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pyle is trying to maintain the position but Woodroffe is very close to passing his half guard.
Woodroffe wants to stand up but Pyle manages to regain full guard.
Woodroffe wants to stand but Pyle has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Pyle has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Woodroffe should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Pyle has tightened it up now! Woodroffe should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
