PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mark Woleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ty Angle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mark Woleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ty Angle!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Angle shoots in for a takedown but Woleman shows good takedown defense.
Woleman dives in and grabs Angle's left leg, looking for a takedown. Angle pushes down on Woleman's head and hops out.
Angle shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
enabling Woleman to counter with a crisp jab.
Woleman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
A big left from Woleman misses.
Angle misses with a takedown attempt - Woleman sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Mark Woleman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ty Angle.

Angle had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Woleman defends it easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Angle wants to improve his position but Woleman is controlling well.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Woleman tries to pass the half guard into mount. Angle knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Woleman cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Woleman throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Angle tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Woleman is in Angle's guard.

Woleman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Angle swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Woleman is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Woleman seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Angle for as long as he can get away with.
Woleman tries to free his leg and advance position but Angle is retaining full guard.
Woleman has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

We're going to have a standup here because Mark Woleman wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Woleman throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Angle stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Woleman rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Angle moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Angle shoots in for a double leg but Woleman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Woleman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A less than humble Mark Woleman misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
