PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tycho Brahe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Linh Munn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brahe's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Astronomy by Metallica. Munn has chosen P-Z as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for Tycho Brahe has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Tycho Brahe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Linh Munn!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brahe throws a jab but it's blocked by Munn.
Brahe throws an overhand right that lands on Munn's shoulder, as Munn tries to avoid the shot.
Brahe chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Brahe tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Brahe checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Brahe lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Munn at a distance.
Munn moves out of range as Brahe strikes.
Munn is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Munn fails to land with a series of punches.
Brahe misses with a wild combination.
Brahe throws an off balance right hand

and Munn counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Munn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brahe swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Munn trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Munn postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Munn is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Munn trying to control the position from guard on top but Brahe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Brahe utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Munn throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Brahe works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Brahe leaves Munn with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Brahe scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Brahe lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Munn has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Munn and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Brahe thows a body shot but no joy.
Tycho Brahe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Munn looks to land a combination but Brahe avoids it well.
Brahe waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Munn.
Brahe throws a head kick that misses.
Tycho Brahe is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Brahe will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Munn gets a takedown into half guard.
Munn seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brahe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Munn is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Brahe sees it coming and defends easily.

Munn is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Brahe has managed to free his arm - good work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's time! Brahe's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Munn seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brahe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Munn is nestled in close to Brahe, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Munn looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Munn is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Brahe is trying to maintain the position but Munn is very close to passing his half guard.

Munn is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Brahe won't allow Munn to pass to mount.
Brahe wants to get back to his feet.
Brahe is not content to let Munn control the position.
Munn is pressing down on Brahe's thigh, looking to free his foot. Brahe is holding on for now.
Munn not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Munn has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Munn is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Brahe defends it well.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Munn is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Brahe is just riding it out for now. Munn eventually gives up the hold.
Munn wants to take a breather but Brahe is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Linh Munn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Brahe scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Munn.

That kick from Brahe tenderised Munn's leg. Munn is trying to keep his angry face on.

Munn closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Munn lands in his opponent's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Munn postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Brahe is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Munn, into his guard.

Munn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Brahe gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Munn is on top in guard.

Munn keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Brahe's head.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Munn accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Munn is looking to work some ground and pound but Brahe has wrist control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
