PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Red Goose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daiki Hitoshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Red Goose!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Daiki Hitoshi!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Hirohito Nitta and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Goose feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hitoshi working for a triangle but Goose defends it easily.

Hitoshi looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Goose avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Goose tries to stand but Hitoshi is controlling from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hitoshi throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Goose escapes and throws Hitoshi's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Hitoshi manages to get back to half guard.

Goose looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Goose trying to control from half guard but Hitoshi is working away.

Goose is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hitoshi is just riding it out for now. Goose eventually gives up the hold.

Hitoshi actively working from the bottom here.
Hitoshi tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Goose has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Goose sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Goose prevents Hitoshi from getting the reversal.
Hitoshi is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hitoshi manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Hitoshi looks winded!

Hitoshi gets full guard.
Goose slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Hitoshi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Goose is one step ahead there.
Goose works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Well, if Goose is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Hitoshi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Goose pulls his head out easily.
Goose wants to stand but Hitoshi has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Goose wants to control but Hitoshi is keeping him busy.

The fighters are battling for position here. Hitoshi manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Hitoshi can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Goose controls the pace.

Hitoshi is looking for a triangle but Goose pushes his legs off easily.

Hitoshi looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Goose has picked Hitoshi up and slammed him! Hitoshi can't keep hold of the triangle and Goose manages to pass to side control!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hitoshi is looking for a sweep.
Goose is chipping away with strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Goose staying calm.
Hitoshi is working to avoid the ground and pound but Goose connects with a decent elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Red Goose will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Goose misses with an attempted mid kick.
Goose wants to clinch
and Hitoshi counters with a nice body shot.
Hitoshi lands a nice hook to Goose's body. Goose takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Goose tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Hitoshi counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Hitoshi shoots in and drives through. Goose sprawls well.
Horrible takedown by Goose or perhaps it was just good defense by Hitoshi which made him look bad.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
A head kick misses from Hitoshi.

Goose tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hitoshi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Goose somewhat.
Hitoshi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Goose as he avoids it easily.
Red Goose has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daiki Hitoshi.
Hitoshi ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Hitoshi looks for a takedown but Goose sprawls well.
Goose uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hitoshi.
Hitoshi misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hitoshi swings for the body but Goose moves out of range.
Hitoshi takes a swing at Goose's ribcage but misses.

Goose has taken the fight to the clinch.
Goose tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hitoshi just stands there and leans against the cage.

Hitoshi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Goose throws a nice looking combination but Hitoshi bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Hitoshi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Goose swats away the attempt to clinch by Hitoshi.
Hitoshi stuns Goose with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

and Hitoshi counters with a three punch combo that has Goose backing up. Goose nods at Hitoshi to acknowledge the strikes.
Red Goose is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Goose with a lazy takedown attempt

and Hitoshi counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Hitoshi wants to pass the guard but Goose is defending well.

Hitoshi drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Goose manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hitoshi has Goose in his guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daiki Hitoshi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Excellent takedown into side control there by Goose.
Hitoshi tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Goose wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
You can see the frustration on Hitoshi's face as Goose controls the position.

Hitoshi is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Goose jumps into side control!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Goose tries to stand but Hitoshi is controlling his head.
Hitoshi tries to bench press Goose off him but Goose keeps the position.
Hitoshi looking for a sweep but Goose has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Hitoshi gets back to half guard.
Hitoshi should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Hitoshi wants to improve his position but Goose is controlling well.
Goose is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Goose seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Goose slips a nice elbow through Hitoshi's hands, connecting with Hitoshi's forehead.

Goose with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Hitoshi regains full guard. Nicely done.
Hitoshi keeping moving, preventing Goose from controlling successfully.

Hitoshi throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Goose escapes and throws Hitoshi's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Hitoshi is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Goose is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Goose tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Hitoshi can't escape the position.
Goose takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Hitoshi is squirming around, avoiding Goose's attempts to control the action.
Hitoshi is looking to improve his position but Goose isn't that keen on the idea.

Goose content just to control the position here.
Hitoshi is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Goose controlling the pace for now.
Goose punishing his opponent with strikes.

And that's the end of the fight!
Red Goose showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Goose has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
