Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Oda Musashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Trigg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trigg has chosen Mama Said Knock You Out as his entrance music. Oda Musashi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Oda Musashi!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Trigg!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Musashi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Trigg's waist but Trigg gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Musashi off to one side.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Musashi.

Musashi is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Trigg has escaped the position, nice work there.
Trigg tries to improve position but can't.

Musashi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Trigg tries to bench press Musashi off him but Musashi keeps the position.
Trigg manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Musashi tries to pass the half guard into mount. Trigg knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Musashi is working for a kimura but Trigg is defending it quite comfortably.
Musashi passes the guard and advances to mount!

Musashi is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Trigg is surviving well by controlling Musashi's body position as best he can.

Musashi working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Musashi is breathing heavily.
Trigg tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Trigg bucks up and throws Musashi to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Trigg drops Musashi with a right and a left! Trigg comes rushing in but Musashi regains his composure and manages to keep Trigg in guard.


Musashi is rocked!


It looks like Oda Musashi has been cut.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Trigg wanted to stand there but Musashi had control of the position.
Oh Musashi is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Trigg trying to control the position from guard on top but Musashi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Trigg's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Trigg with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Trigg makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Musashi seems to have got his legs back now.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Trigg has his takedown stuffed

and Musashi counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Trigg wants to get back to full guard.
Musashi frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Musashi won't let Trigg get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Trigg is wriggling around trying to escape.

Musashi jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Trigg manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Trigg tries to buck Musashi off but Musashi is having none of it.
Trigg wants to control but Musashi postures up.

Musashi working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Musashi prevents Trigg from escaping the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Trigg is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Trigg fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Musashi sprawls well initially but Trigg persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Musashi makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Musashi.
Trigg really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Musashi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Musashi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Trigg gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Musashi might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Trigg bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Musashi manages to work his way to half guard, despite Trigg's best efforts.

Musashi drops back, looking for a kneebar! Trigg looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Trigg looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Trigg!

Musashi had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Trigg is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Musashi Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Trigg's back instead.
Trigg is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Musashi off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
