PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Deidara Zetsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Oath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zetsu comes to the cage accompanied by Cudi The Kid. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Deidara Zetsu!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ken Oath!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Franklyn Lucas and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oath throws a big shot that misses.

Oath closes the distance and clinches.
Zetsu blocks a body shot from Oath.
Oath misses with a punch to the body.
Zetsu misses with a punch on the inside.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Oath.
Good body shot from Oath.
Oath tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Oath taking a breather.
Oath struggles to land a body shot inside as Zetsu controls his hands.

Oath is trying to trip Zetsu. He has hold of a leg but Zetsu is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Oath persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Zetsu controls Oath momentarily but Oath frees himself.
Zetsu keeping moving, preventing Oath from controlling successfully.

Oath passes into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zetsu keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Oath is looking to advance position but Zetsu won't allow it.
Zetsu avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Oath.
Zetsu is pressing down on Oath's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Oath wants to control from the top but Zetsu keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zetsu looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Oath puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Oath seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Zetsu keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Oath wants to take a breather but Zetsu is having none of it.
Oath thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Zetsu's head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Oath looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
It looks like Oath might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Oath thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Zetsu wants to control but Oath is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Oath trying to control from half guard but Zetsu is working away.
Zetsu wants to improve his position but Oath is controlling well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Oath lands a high kick!


It looks like Deidara Zetsu has been cut.
Oath walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.


It looks like Ken Oath has been cut.
Oath throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Zetsu on the side of the head.
Ken Oath seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Oath takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Zetsu takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Oath throws a low kick, looking for Zetsu's leg but Zetsu calmly moves out of range.
Zetsu uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Oath.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Oath, as that shot connected.
Oath fails with the takedown.
Zetsu tries a head kick but it misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Oath moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Oath avoids the head kick by Zetsu.
Zetsu catches Oath with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Oath dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Zetsu. That did some damage!
Zetsu throws a hook but Oath blocks it.
Zetsu swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Zetsu throws a head kick that misses.
Oath looks to score with a jab to the body but Zetsu is just out of range.
Zetsu tries to land a body kick
and Oath counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A left lands for Zetsu.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Nice shot by Oath.
Oath misses with a hook. Zetsu ducked under it nicely.
Zetsu throws a chopping leg kick but Oath manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Oath dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Zetsu avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Zetsu misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ken Oath seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Oath shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Zetsu pinned against the cage. Zetsu gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Zetsu takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Zetsu misses with an uppercut.
Oath tries to land a leg kick but Zetsu saw it coming and moves away.
Oath ducks under a wild hook from Zetsu.
Oath gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Oath punishes Zetsu's body with a nice straight punch.
Zetsu missing with a left hand there. Oath was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Oath fails in his attempt to clinch.

Oath cracks Zetsu with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Zetsu cracks the inside of Oath's front leg.
Zetsu shoots for a double leg takedown but Oath sprawls well. He's pushed Zetsu's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Zetsu looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Oath's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Zetsu connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Oath scrambles back to his feet.
Zetsu checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Zetsu checks a leg kick.
Oath moves in looking to clinch but Zetsu pushes him off.
Oath works the jab nicely.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Oath keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Zetsu drops his hands momentarily and Oath takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Oath misses with a hook. Zetsu ducked under it nicely.
Zetsu throws a hook to the side of Oath's head but Oath sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Zetsu takes one on the button.
Zetsu fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Oath avoids it really well and circles away.
Oath bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Zetsu's head.


Deidara Zetsu's cut is getting worse.
Oath throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Oath fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Zetsu.
Oath avoids the body shot from Zetsu.
Zetsu keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Oath scores with a body shot.
Zetsu misses the jab.
Oath lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Zetsu tries a head kick but it misses.

Zetsu misses with a looping right.
Oath throws a low kick, looking for Zetsu's leg but Zetsu calmly moves out of range.
Oath ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Oath throws a leg kick but Zetsu checks it.
Zetsu throws a leg kick but Oath checks it.
Zetsu throws a lazy uppercut
and Oath counters with a stiff right hand.
Oath slaps away a takedown attempt from Zetsu, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Deidara Zetsu. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Oath thows a body shot but no joy.
Oath feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Zetsu's calf.
Oath tests Zetsu's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Oath scoring well with a low kick there.
Zetsu keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Zetsu uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.


That has opened up Ken Oath's cut even more.
Zetsu takes a swing at Oath's ribcage but misses.
Zetsu swats away the attempt to clinch by Oath.
Oath has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Oath fails to land with a series of punches.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Zetsu misses with a leg kick.
Nice body kick there by Zetsu.
Oath looks to throw the jab but Zetsu is out of range.
Oath moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Oath showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Oath moves out of range of the strikes.
Oath fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Zetsu has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Zetsu keeps Oath at a distance using the push kick.
Zetsu throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Zetsu throws a sloppy head kick and Oath moves out of range easily.
Zetsu closes the distance and clinches up with Oath, looking for a takedown. Zetsu pushes Oath against the cage but Oath circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Oath slaps away a takedown attempt from Zetsu, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Zetsu throws a series of punches but Oath avoids them all with ease.
Oath connects with a looping right hand.
Oath slips a straight right by Zetsu.
Oath takes a swing at Zetsu's ribcage but misses.

Zetsu throws a lazy right hand but Oath sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Zetsu stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Oath.
Oath scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Nice uppercut lands for Oath. That snapped Zetsu's head back.
Oath connects with a jab.
Oath moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Oath feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Zetsus jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!


Zetsu is rocked!


Deidara Zetsu's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Zetsu chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Oath can pounce on him.
Oh Zetsu is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Oath scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Zetsu throws a head kick that misses.
Zetsu tries to work over Oath's front leg with a kick but Oath checks it.
Zetsu seems to have got his legs back now.
Zetsu stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Oath.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Oath fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Zetsu.
Oath connects with a looping right hand.
Oath shoots in for a double leg but Zetsu sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Zetsu missing with a left hand there. Oath was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A solid body kick from Oath.
Oath ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Zetsu moves away.

Oath cracks Zetsu with a big right hand and Zetsu goes down!


Jeez, Deidara Zetsu's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Oath content to stall in guard here.
Oath trying to control the position from guard on top but Zetsu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Zetsu is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Zetsu avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Oath wants to control from the top but Zetsu keeps moving.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ken Oath wasn't active enough on the ground.
Zetsu throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Zetsu throws out a leg kick but Oath moves out of range and Zetsu only half commits.
Zetsu scoring well with a low kick there.
Oath avoids the head kick by Zetsu.
Zetsu looks for a takedown but Oath sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Deidara Zetsu. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A cross from Oath lands.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Deidara Zetsu's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:15 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Ken Oath!
Ken Oath is the new heavyweight champion!
A relieved looking Ken Oath thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
