Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Frank Castle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Lakanik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Lakanik told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 21 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Castle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Lakanik! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Reed Andrews and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Castle misses with a body shot.
Frank Castle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Castle keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Castle looks for a takedown but Lakanik sprawls well. Lakanik slaps away a takedown attempt from Castle, before circling back to the center of the mat. Lakanik instigates a clinch. Lakanik breaks the clinch.
Lakanik shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Castle eats them both and turns towards Lakanik to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Lakanik changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Castle tries to avoid it but Lakanik manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Castle to the ground. Castle escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Castle tries to clinch up. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Excellent takedown into side control there by Castle. Castle has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Castle shoots in but Lakanik avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Castle. That's going to take a lot out of him. Castle shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lakanik throws a head kick but Castle moves out of range.
Lakanik swings for the body but Castle moves out of range.
Lakanik tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Castle misses with a body shot.
Lakanik throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Castle closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Lakanik did well to prevent Castle getting side control. Castle tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Lakanik. Lakanik trying to control here.
Castle prevents Lakanik from improving his position. Castle wants to stand up but Lakanik is controlling the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Castle trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Castle escapes and gets back to his feet. This has been an exciting period of action! Lakanik throws a sloppy head kick and Castle moves out of range easily. A swing and a miss from Castle. Castle misses the jab. Lakanik throws a right and a left that both miss. Castle misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lakanik.
Lakanik tries to close the distance and clinch up but Castle swats him away and circles back towards the center. Castle shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lakanik napping and manages to drive through into side control! Castle stands up and we're back to a striking position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lakanik misses with a head kick.
No joy there for Castle, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Nice takedown defense from Lakanik. No joy for Castle on that attempt. Lakanik changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Castle looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Castle is trying to buck Lakanik off. Lakanik decides to stand back up. Lakanik will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Castle gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Lakanik counters with a head kick that drops Castle to the mat! Castle scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Castle is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lakanik throws a head kick that misses. Oh Castle is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Castle dodges the punch combination from Lakanik.
A head kick misses from Lakanik. Lakanik looks winded! Castle throws a hook but Lakanik avoids it easily. Castle closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Castle stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Lakanik to get to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Castle fails with a takedown attempt. Lakanik lands a nice leg kick that just misses Castle's sensitive parts. Lakanik pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nice sprawl there from Lakanik as Castle shoots in. Castle seems to have got his legs back now. Lakanik throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Castle misses with a takedown and Lakanik counters with a head kick that crumples his opponent - he's in a world of trouble! Lakanik looks at the referee who does nothing so Lakanik lands a crushing right that sends Castle to the floor! This time the ref steps in to end the fight.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Lakanik! John Lakanik tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
