Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tim Barry! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Fury! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Donald Grub and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fury gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Barry to score an easy takedown into full guard. Barry trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Fury working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Barry. Fury controlling the position. Barry really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Barry stops Fury from standing up. Fury is adopting a defensive guard. Barry will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Barry prevents Fury from getting back to his feet.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Michael Fury hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Barry throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Fury tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Barry is in Fury's guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Barry stops Fury from standing up. Barry is fighting to break Fury's control of his arms but Fury is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Barry landing with the ground and pound. Fury uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Fury looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Barry wants to stand but Fury is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fury drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fury jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Fury stops Barry from standing up. Fury stands and throws Barry's legs to the side, diving into side control. Barry tries to escape but Fury is in control. Barry is breathing heavily. Fury has an Americana. Barry didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Fury is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Fury hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Michael Fury!
