Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Duke Toney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bjorn Ironside! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Toney throws a low kick, looking for Ironside's leg but Ironside calmly moves out of range. Toney throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Ironside tries to close the distance and clinch but Toney swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Ironside pushes Toney up against the cage in a clinch. Ironside keeps control of Toney as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Ironside manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Ironside is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Toney would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Toney advances to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ironside tries to roll over but Toney keeps him under control. Toney tries to stand but can't do so whilst Ironside controls his leg. Ironside throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ironside bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Toney's guard. Ironside slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Toney is trying to improve his position. Ironside working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Toney could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Ironside wants to lay and pray for a moment but Toney keeps working. Toney is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Toney taking punishment in the form of punches.

Ironside is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Toney is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Ironside misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Toney tries to buck Ironside off but Ironside is having none of it. Ironside in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Ironside wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Toney, who protects the arm well. Ironside has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Toney is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Ironside yanks on the arm and Toney is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Ironside.
