Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Pain! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Abdul Talib Ramli! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Taro Takaoka and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ramli fails to land the takedown. Ramli wants to clinch and Pain counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ramli's guard now. Pain pushes down on Ramli's leg and manages to get into half guard. Pain trying to control the pace. Pain slips a nice elbow through Ramli's hands, connecting with Ramli's forehead. Ramli should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. This has been an exciting period of action! Pain working the head and body with strikes. Pain is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Pain is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pain lands a nice short elbow. Pain content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Pain has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Pain looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pain keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Pain working Ramli over with strikes. Ramli has a hand on Pain's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Pain takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! The referee warns Ramli that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Ramli really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Pain with the ground and pound from mount. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Pain cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Ramli is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pain loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Ramli scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Pain land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Pain stands and salutes the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Pain!
