Lombard has chosen Retaliator as his entrance music. Alex Mercer could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jacoby Lombard's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercer looks to land a left hand but Lombard moved out of range nicely.
Mercer goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Alex Mercer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lombard walks into a stiff left hand from Mercer.
Lombard blocks a head kick by Mercer.
Mercer chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Mercer thumps Lombard with a low kick.
Mercer bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Lombard's head.

Lombard is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mercer scores with a nice right hand.
Lombard is still on wobbly legs! Can Mercer finish him?

Lombard seems to have recovered his senses.

Lombard's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Mercer connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Lombard scrambles back to his feet.

Lombard looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Mercer sends Lombard crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Mercer is motioning to the referee to let Lombard up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Lombard fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mercer to the ground. Lombard is now in Mercer's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Lombard won't allow Mercer to sweep him here.
Lombard wants to pass the guard but Mercer is keeping the position.
Mercer is controlling Lombard's posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Alex Mercer.
Mercer lands a nice hook to Lombard's body. Lombard takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Mercer throws a head kick that misses.

Mercer lands the left hand.
Mercer dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Lombard. That did some damage!

Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! Mercer throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Lombard is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the cage! Wow!
