Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kyros Sisyphus! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ademar Mota! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Thiago Cunha and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mota cracks Sisyphus with a good jab. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sisyphus. A head kick misses from Mota. Sisyphus shoots in looking for a takedown but Mota manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sisyphus's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Mota misses with a head kick.
Mota throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Sisyphus feints and as Mota raises his hands in defense, Sisyphus changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Sisyphus looking to pass the guard. Sisyphus postures up.
Mota really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sisyphus. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sisyphus postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mota is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sisyphus, into his guard. Sisyphus is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sisyphus is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sisyphus loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Sisyphus stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mota swivels though and keeps the full guard. Sisyphus working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Mota's head. Mota is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Sisyphus postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mota is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sisyphus, into his guard. Mota got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sisyphus has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mota has managed to get both his arms back between Sisyphus's legs - danger averted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sisyphus is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sisyphus keeping full guard, as Mota tries to pass. Sisyphus working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mota doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mota manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Sisyphus pushes a forearm under Mota's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Mota is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
