Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carl Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mister Theilulaia! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Theilulaia closes the distance looking to clinch and Johnson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Johnson gets to his feet - Theilulaia follows without any prompting. Johnson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Theilulaia tries to improve position but can't. Johnson lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Theilulaia down.
This has been an exciting period of action! Johnson working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Johnson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Theilulaia wants to control but Johnson postures up. That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson gets to mount! Theilulaia was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Johnson stands up from mount. Strange move. The fight stays on the outside here - Theilulaia looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Theilulaia takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Mister Theilulaia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Theilulaia wants to clinch but Johnson slips to the side so Johnson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Johnson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Theilulaia is trying to keep Johnson in close.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mister Theilulaia. Theilulaia tries to clinch up and Johnson moves into the clinch. Theilulaia with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Theilulaia smiles and moves away.
Theilulaia tries to sprawl but Johnson drives through with a takedown into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Theilulaia is trying to control but Johnson manages to pass to mount!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Johnson with a couple of short strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carl Johnson dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Theilulaia moves to clinch but Johnson breaks away and Johnson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Theilulaia's guard. Carl Johnson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Theilulaia keeping moving, preventing Johnson from controlling successfully. Johnson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Theilulaia looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Theilulaia is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Johnson is controlling him. Theilulaia is breathing heavily.

Johnson tries to catch it but that hurt him. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The fight moves into the clinch position. Theilulaia throws a knee to the head but misses.

Theilulaia tries to land knees in the clinch but Johnson avoids the damage to the body. Johnson is looking for a takedown. Johnson fails to pull guard.

Johnson's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Theilulaia avoiding damage as Johnson throws knees to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Johnson tries to pull guard but Theilulaia won't allow it.
Johnson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Theilulaia walks away with a smile on his face. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnson swings around for an armbar but Theilulaia sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Johnson's guard. Johnson kicks Theilulaia off and gets to his feet. Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Theilulaia as he jumps to the side. Theilulaia tries to close the distance and clinch but Johnson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Johnson slips under a jab from Theilulaia. Theilulaia tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Johnson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Theilulaia gets caught napping as Johnson dives in and scores a takedown. Theilulaia manages to retain guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Johnson prevents Theilulaia from getting back to his feet. Johnson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Johnson scores with a decent looking elbow strike. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Johnson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Johnson scoring with some ground and pound. Johnson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Johnson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Johnson forces his way into half guard. Theilulaia wants to control but Johnson is keeping busy.
Theilulaia is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Johnson jumps into side control!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson slows the pace down. Johnson scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Theilulaia to see if he's OK. Johnson scoring with punches and elbows. Theilulaia is being controlled here. Johnson lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
And that's the end of the fight! Carl Johnson showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Johnson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
