Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kuroda Atsushi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Woo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Johnny Woo was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
22 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Kuroda Atsushi! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Woo! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Atsushi lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Woo throws a series of punches but Atsushi avoids them all with ease. Atsushi waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Woo. Atsushi throws an overhand right that lands on Woo's shoulder, as Woo tries to avoid the shot. Atsushi lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Woo wants to clinch. Atsushi shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Woo keeping hold of Atsushi's head, controlling as best he can. Atsushi tries to pass the half guard into mount. Woo knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Atsushi prevents Woo from improving his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Woo wants to get back to his feet. Atsushi controlling the action here. Woo is not content to let Atsushi control the position. Woo is trying to control but Atsushi passes into side control!
Woo tries to escape but Atsushi is in control. Woo holding on. Woo tries to improve position but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Woo struggling a bit here. Woo is not content to let Atsushi control the position. Woo sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Atsushi working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Woo actively working from the bottom here. Woo makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Woo. Atsushi wants to control from the top but Woo keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Woo can't keep his opponent in guard - Atsushi advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Woo is refusing to be controlled, as Atsushi sits in half guard. Woo keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Woo trying to control from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Woo moves in looking to clinch but Atsushi pushes him off. Nice defenses there by Woo. Atsushi looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Atsushi avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Atsushi shoots in but Woo avoids the takedown attempt easily. Woo shoots for a takedown but Atsushi saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. A good leg kick by Atsushi. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Woo tries to clinch but fails miserably and Atsushi counters with a stiff right hand. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Atsushi defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Woo. Atsushi lands with a kick to the ribs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kuroda Atsushi dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Woo walks into a stiff left hand from Atsushi. Atsushi jabs Woo to the body, keeping him at a distance. Woo goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Atsushi misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Woo tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Atsushi.
Atsushi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
No joy there for Atsushi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Woo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Atsushi is fending him off so far but Woo persists. Nope, Atsushi circles away and we're back to standing. Woo closes the distance looking to clinch and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Atsushi fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Woo.
That's one minute gone in the round. Atsushi tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Atsushi lands a leg kick that knocks Woo off balance momentarily. Atsushi misses the jab. Atsushi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Woo is fending him off so far but Atsushi persists. Nope, Woo circles away and we're back to standing. Atsushi lands a jab to the head.
Woo tries to clinch up but Atsushi circles away and keeps his distance. Kuroda Atsushi is winning the standup battle so far. A slapping leg kick lands for Atsushi.
Woo tries to clinch but Atsushi moves out of range. Atsushi scores with a head kick. Woo tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Atsushi closes the distance and pushes Woo back into the cage. Atsushi works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Woo is looking to stand up but Atsushi isn't so interested in that idea. Atsushi stopping the sweep attempt from Woo.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Atsushi loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Woo is trying to keep Atsushi in close.
Atsushi trying to control but Woo is working from the bottom. Atsushi is looking to work some ground and pound but Woo has wrist control. Atsushi wants to pass the guard but Woo is keeping the position. Woo looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Atsushi puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Atsushi tries to pass the half guard into mount. Woo knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Woo wants to improve his position but Atsushi is controlling well.
Atsushi throwing shots but Woo is blocking nicely. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Woo is not content to let Atsushi control the position. Woo is looking to control Atsushi's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Woo avoid being mounted? Woo misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Kuroda Atsushi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Woo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Atsushi working the head and body with strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Atsushi controlling the action here. Atsushi thows a huge punch but Woo dodges it nicely.
Atsushi is thwarting Woo's attempts to control the position. Atsushi is keen to just control but Woo is a slippery customer. Atsushi prevents Woo from improving his position. Woo wants to get back to full guard but Atsushi has mounted him! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Atsushi connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Woo is wriggling around trying to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kuroda Atsushi dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Woo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Atsushi counters with a nice leg kick. Atsushi moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Atsushi throws an overhand right that lands on Woo's shoulder, as Woo tries to avoid the shot. Woo keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kuroda Atsushi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Atsushi is looking to land body kicks. Woo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Atsushi paws at him with a jab and circles away. A slapping leg kick lands for Atsushi.

Woo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Woo jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Atsushi gets a double leg takedown into Woo's guard. Woo wants to sweep but no luck. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Atsushi is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Woo has momentary wrist control but Atsushi slips an elbow through the middle. Woo wants to get back to his feet but Atsushi is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Atsushi controls from within his opponent's guard. Woo keeping full guard, as Atsushi tries to pass. Atsushi postures up in Woo's guard and throws a big left but Woo blocks it. Atsushi trying to control but Woo is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Woo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Atsushi defends it easily. Atsushi trying to control the position from guard on top but Woo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Atsushi pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Woo is keeping the position for now. Atsushi lands a couple of elbows. Atsushi postures up.
Woo wants to stand but Atsushi is controlling the position. Atsushi trying to control the position from guard on top but Woo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Atsushi stands and throws Woo's legs to the side, diving into side control. Woo tries to strike but it doesn't land. Atsushi is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Woo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Woo is trying to get back to half guard. Atsushi working the head and body with strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Woo is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Woo wants to control but Atsushi is keeping busy and won't allow it. Atsushi is looking to take a break and control but Woo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Atsushi wants to pass the guard but Woo is defending well. Woo trying to control here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Woo blocking the ground and pound attempt from Atsushi. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kuroda Atsushi clearly takes that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Woo shoots in and gets a takedown into Atsushi's guard. Atsushi tries to land a sweep but no joy. Woo tries to free his leg and advance position but Atsushi is retaining full guard. Woo throwing strikes from guard but Atsushi blocks nicely. Atsushi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Atsushi thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Atsushi moves into full mount! Woo won't be happy about that! Woo in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. That's one minute gone in the round. Atsushi sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Woo wants to hold on but Atsushi pushes him away. Woo tries to buck Atsushi off but he can't manage it. Atsushi landing punches. Woo wants to hold on but Atsushi pushes him away. Atsushi lands a big shot there that rocks Woo but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Woo is in all sorts of trouble here.
Atsushi has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Woo's face.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Woo is looking to get to half guard. Woo is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted. Atsushi lands a couple of good shots and Woo has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Atsushi doesn't have the hooks in and Woo manages to turn into his guard.
Atsushi wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Atsushi is trying to control the position but Woo postures up. Woo looking to pass the guard. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Woo takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Woo's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Woo is looking to clinch but Atsushi is avoiding it.
Woo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Atsushi circles away. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Atsushi throws a nice outside leg kick. Woo fails in his attempt to clinch. Atsushi misses with a body kick. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Atsushi cracks the inside of Woo's front leg. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Woo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Atsushi manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Woo is wobbling all over the place through exhaustion. Will he make it to the final bell? A jab from Atsushi finds it's way through Woo's defenses. Jab, jab by Atsushi - just one landing. Woo shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Woo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Atsushi.
Atsushi displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Woo. Kuroda Atsushi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Woo. Atsushi closes the distance and clinches. Atsushi digs a right hand underneath Woo's ribcage. Woo let out a lung full of air as it connected. Woo wants to take the fight to the mat but Atsushi manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Atsushi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Good standup being displayed there by Atsushi as he connects with a hook. Atsushi connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Woo tries a head kick but it misses.
A thudding body kick lands there by Atsushi!
Atsushi throws a front kick that sends Woo stumbling back into the cage. No luck for Atsushi with that takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Atsushi scores with a kick to the midsection. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nice body punch from Atsushi. Atsushi is trying hard to land a takedown here. Woo sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Atsushi fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Woo has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Woo fails with an attempt to clinch.
Woo steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Atsushi. Woo is looking to clinch but Atsushi is avoiding it.
Woo throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Atsushi to counter with a crisp jab. Atsushi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Woo can do to turn this around? Woo fails with the takedown and Atsushi counters with a good low kick that Woo was not able to check. Atsushi moves into the clinch successfully.
Atsushi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Woo uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Atsushi. Woo misses with a series of wild punches.
Atsushi stuffs the takedown attempt from Woo. Woo gets slowly back to his feet. Woo needs to keep his hands up - Atsushi had a free shot at his head there. Woo throws a head kick but Atsushi moves out of range.

Woo ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Atsushi.

and Atsushi counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Atsushi is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Woo. Woo uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Atsushi. Atsushi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Woo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Atsushi somewhat. Atsushi fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Woo has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Kuroda Atsushi is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Woo moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Atsushi swings and misses with a shot to the body and Woo connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The fight stays on the outside here - Woo looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Woo tried to score with a low kick but Atsushi checks it.
And that's the end of the fight! Kuroda Atsushi showed his dominance in that final round. Well Atsushi has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
