PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stevie Tal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nai Khanomtom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stevie Tal had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stevie Tal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nai Khanomtom!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Bruno Hogan and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some bone on bone action there as Khanomtom checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Khanomtom looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Tal wants a takedown but no success here.
Khanomtom misses with a knee to the head.

Tal is looking to take this one to the mat.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Khanomtom is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Tal is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Tal has escaped and now he's on top!
Tal tries to free his leg and advance position but Khanomtom is retaining full guard.

Tal jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Khanomtom manages to avoid the submission attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Tal tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nai Khanomtom dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Tal goes for a takedown attempt but Khanomtom pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Stevie Tal has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Khanomtom tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tal swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Khanomtom moves in looking to clinch but Tal pushes him off.

Khanomtom throws a nice looking combination but Tal bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Khanomtom wants to clinch up but Tal keeps it at a distance.

Khanomtom gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Tal to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Stevie Tal overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A close second round but Nai Khanomtom will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Tal wants to pass the guard but Khanomtom is keeping the position.
Khanomtom keeping moving, preventing Tal from controlling successfully.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Stevie Tal wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Tal fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Khanomtom to the ground. Tal is now in Khanomtom's guard.

Tal drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Khanomtom dives on top into guard.

Tal is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Tal is looking for a kimura but Khanomtom is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Tal to get the leverage.

Tal wants to work for an arm triangle but Khanomtom is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Stevie Tal has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Tal is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Khanomtom doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tal.

Stevie Tal showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Khanomtom has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
