Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sean Carreri! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Peters! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carreri fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Carreri uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Peters.
Peters lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Carreri circles away quickly and effectively. Carreri shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Peters defends it nicely. Carreri tries to move into range but Peters moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Carreri fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Peters sprawls well initially but Carreri persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Carreri is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Peters reverses the position - he's now on top in Carreri's guard. Carreri is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Peters is controlling him. Carreri isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Peters stacks Carreri on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Peters!
That's one minute gone in the round. Carreri is trying to get back to half guard. Peters creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Carreri sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Peters controls the position. Peters has hold of Carreri's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Carreri seems comfortable defending it but Peters has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Carreri is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Carreri is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Peters couldn't care less - he's delighted!
