Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Eduardo Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerome Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Powers has chosen We Run This - Missy Elliot as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Eduardo Alvarez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jerome Powers! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Powers fails to land the takedown. Powers drives through with a takedown into guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Alvarez keeping full guard, as Powers tries to pass. Alvarez throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Alvarez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Powers can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Powers wants to control from the top but Alvarez keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alvarez working for a triangle but Powers defends it easily.

Alvarez wants to control but Powers is keeping busy.
Powers is stalling here. Alvarez is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Powers seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Alvarez has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alvarez trying to control the action but Powers is working from the bottom. Powers is looking for a sweep. Powers seems a little lost for a moment, as Alvarez dominates the positioning. Powers is looking to regain half guard here but Alvarez keeps moving and retains side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alvarez scores with punches from side control. Alvarez working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Powers is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Powers tries to bench press Alvarez off him but Alvarez keeps the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alvarez tries to move into full mount but can't pass Powers's legs. Powers is looking for a sweep. Alvarez is working Powers over with some ground and pound from side control. Powers can't do much from the bottom here. Alvarez landing strikes. Powers tries to bench press Alvarez off him but Alvarez keeps the position. Powers takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alvarez working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Alvarez creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Alvarez trying to control the position but Powers is working away. Alvarez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Powers taking a bit of punishment here - Alvarez scoring with strikes. Alvarez working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Alvarez wants to control but Powers is keeping him busy. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Alvarez scores with a couple of short elbows. Alvarez creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alvarez looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Powers wants to get back to full guard. Alvarez lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Alvarez lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Alvarez wants to pass the guard but Powers is defending well. Alvarez lands with a punch from half guard. Alvarez is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Powers wants to control but Alvarez passes into side.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alvarez working the head with strikes. Alvarez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Powers is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Alvarez in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Alvarez creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Alvarez gets to mount! Powers was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Powers is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Powers is rocked! Alvarez raining down shots from the mount! Powers is still in real trouble! Can Alvarez finish him? The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Alvarez is working for a guillotine from mount but Powers frees his head quite easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alvarez lands a heavy elbow. Alvarez postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Powers badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Alvarez around the waist but Alvarez pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Alvarez is the winner by TKO! Alvarez jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Eduardo Alvarez! During a confident post fight interview, Eduardo Alvarez thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
