Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gary Mead! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rashad Strasser! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Fedor Mirinova and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mead throws an off balance right hand
and Strasser counters with a left and a right that stings Mead. Mead buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Mead moves out of range of the strikes. Mead gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. A thudding body kick lands there by Mead!
Mead with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Gary Mead seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mead throws a quick inside leg kick. Mead is looking to clinch. Mead is looking to land body kicks. A thudding body kick lands there by Mead!
That's one minute gone in the round. Mead throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Mead uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Strasser. Strasser misses with a straight left. Strasser checks a leg kick. Mead scores with a kick to the body.

Strasser is trying to push Mead away but Mead has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Mead lands an elbow just above Strasser 's eye. Mead lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Mead scores with an uppercut up the middle. Strasser gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Mead regains guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Strasser with a flurry of punches that miss. Strasser tries to free his leg and advance position but Mead is retaining full guard. Mead trying to control the position.
Gary Mead has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Strasser checks a leg kick. Mead tries to work over Strasser's front leg with a kick but Strasser checks it. Strasser keeps the fight on the outside.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Strasser rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mead moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Mead feints and then cracks Strasser's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Strasser down. Mead chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Strasser checks a leg kick. Strasser pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Mead punishes Strasser's body with a nice straight punch. Strasser blocks the body kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Strasser throws a big shot that misses. Strasser shoots in looking for a takedown but Mead manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Strasser's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Strasser stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Mead. Strasser takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Strasser fails with a takedown attempt. Mead keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Strasser. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mead's jab looks to have found its range, popping Strasser under the eye. Strasser rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mead moves out of range and avoids them all easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gary Mead dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Mead tests Strasser's chin there with a solid looking shot. Mead throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Mead turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Strasser chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Mead can pounce on him.

Strasser walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Mead throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. A leg kick checked by Strasser.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mead with a hook. Strasser throws a looping overhand right but Mead ducks down to avoid it. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Strasser is defended easily by Mead. Mead fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Strasser, pushing him back against the cage. Mead creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Strasser's defenses. Mead lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Mead lands a left hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Strasser tries to circle away but Mead has him pinned against the cage. Strasser is still on wobbly legs! Can Mead finish him? Mead is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Strasser seems to have recovered his senses. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mead with a knee to the head.

Strasser blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Strasser is looking to break free of the clinch but Mead has double underhooks. Mead gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Strasser.

Mead comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Mead lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Strasser has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Mead lands a knee to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mead lands a damaging elbow. Strasser's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Strasser is looking for a takedown. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Strasser takes an elbow to the temple. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Mead just misses with a elbow thrown towards Strasser's brow. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Mead putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Strasser in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Strasser working hard to break the clinch. Mead lands a nice elbow. Strasser looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Mead tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Strasser's elbow. Mead throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Mead lands an elbow inside. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Strasser breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Strasser cracks Mead with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Gary Mead is winning the standup battle so far. Strasser has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Mead. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mead throws a head punch that misses. Mead unloads a knee to the mid-section. Strasser lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Strasser takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Strasser takes an elbow to the temple. Mead working the clinch nicely. Strasser is working for position but Mead cracks him with a big knee to the head! Strasser crumples up against the cage and Mead lands two more shots before the ref can save Strasser! This one is all over!
