PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ken Dietrich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damien Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cross is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by 2nd Sucks. On his way into the cage it seems that Ken Dietrich has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Ken Dietrich seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ken Dietrich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damien Cross!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cross is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Dietrich shoots in looking for a takedown. Cross tries to sprawl out of it but Dietrich keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cross manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Dietrich fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cross avoids it really well and circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dietrich.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ken Dietrich. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dietrich shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cross napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Cross wants to get back to his feet.
Dietrich tries to score with some ground and pound. Cross controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Dietrich swings around for an armbar but Cross sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Dietrich's guard.

Cross wants to stand but Dietrich is controlling his posture from full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Damien Cross was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Dietrich fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Cross to the ground. Dietrich is now in Cross's guard.

Dietrich works over Cross with some ground and pound from guard.
Dietrich loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Dietrich stands up and waves to Cross to follow him.
Cross moves in looking to clinch but Dietrich pushes him off.

Cross tries to clinch up but Dietrich circles away and keeps his distance.
Horrible takedown by Dietrich or perhaps it was just good defense by Cross which made him look bad.

Cross tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Cross creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Dietrich's defenses.

Cross is pressed up against the cage. Dietrich has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cross down to the mat. Cross avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Ken Dietrich seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dietrich closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Cross quickly recovers to half guard.
Cross wants to get back to his feet.

Dietrich is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cross is just riding it out for now. Dietrich eventually gives up the hold.
Dietrich has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dietrich prevents Cross from standing back up.

Cross is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Dietrich is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cross defends it well.

Damien Cross showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Dietrich shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cross sprawls well. Cross wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dietrich gets slowly back to his feet.

Dietrich feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Dietrich on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Dietrich tries to get out of the position.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cross tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

I would just about give that final round to Damien Cross.
I think Cross has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
