Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuck Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Gotti!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gotti looks for a takedown but Liddell sprawls well.
Gotti shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Gotti gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Gotti wants a takedown.
Chuck Liddell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Gotti.
Gotti is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Liddell to keep the fight standing.
Gotti jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Liddell walks away with a smile on his face. Gotti gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Liddell leaves Gotti with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Liddell defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gotti.
Liddell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gotti moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gotti shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Liddell looking for a sweep. Not yet Liddell, not yet.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Liddell is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Liddell knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gotti on the ground.
Gotti pushes down on Liddell's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Gotti stalling.
Gotti moves into full mount! Liddell won't be happy about that!
Gotti avoids the attempt from Liddell to control.
Gotti is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Liddell is in real trouble.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gotti controlling from the back.
Gotti is working for a rear naked choke. Liddell is not defending it well and Gotti has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Liddell refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Liddell's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
