PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Dias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucho Luvichev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lucas Dias!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lucho Luvichev!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dias lands a leg kick that knocks Luvichev off balance momentarily.
Dias tries to clinch up

and Luvichev holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Luvichev successfully pulls guard.
Luvichev is looking to stand back up but Dias counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Luvichev.
Dias is trying to control the action in half guard but Luvichev is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Dias wants to pass to mount but Luvichev is defending the position.
Dias thows a huge punch but Luvichev dodges it nicely.
Dias seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Luvichev controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Luvichev's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Dias wants to clinch up but Luvichev keeps it at a distance.
Dias lands a jab-cross combination.


It looks like Lucho Luvichev has been cut.

Luvichev takes the fight into the clinch.

Luvichev pulls guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Luvichev is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Dias is looking to advance position but Luvichev has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Luvichev is in the full mount, landing strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Luvichev goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Dias is on top in guard.
Dias won't allow Luvichev to sweep him here.

Dias got a little sloppy there for a moment and Luvichev has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dias has managed to get both his arms back between Luvichev's legs - danger averted.
Dias postures up in Luvichev's guard and throws a big left but Luvichev blocks it.
Luvichev is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Dias stands and throws Luvichev's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Luvichev wants to get back to his feet but Dias drags him back down.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Luvichev struggling a bit here.
Dias trying to control the action but Luvichev is working from the bottom.
Luvichev tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Dias tries to stand but Luvichev is controlling his head.
Luvichev is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Luvichev is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dias tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dias has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Dias creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Luvichev sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Luvichev is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Luvichev wants to control but Dias postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lucas Dias will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Lucho Luvichev's cut.
That's time! Dias's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Horrible takedown by Dias or perhaps it was just good defense by Luvichev which made him look bad.
Dias shoots in for a takedown but Luvichev shows good takedown defense.

Luvichev manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Dias on his heels. He'll look to pass Dias's guard now, I'm sure.

Luvichev slips nicely into half guard.
Luvichev tries to pass to full mount but Dias defends it.
Luvichev is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Luvichev takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Luvichev looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Luvichev seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dias does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Luvichev with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Lucho Luvichev was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Luvichev drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Dias tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Luvichev wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Check out the look on Luvichev's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Luvichev scores with punches from side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Luvichev slows the pace down.
Lucho Luvichev has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Luvichev is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Dias is trying to escape and Luvichev transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Dias is forced to tap! Nice work there by Luvichev! Very nice indeed!
