Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sergio Vega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sergio Vega could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Lucas Jones's chin.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sergio Vega!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones throws a head kick that misses.
Jones fails with the takedown
and Vega counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jones won't be happy with that.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Vega is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Jones will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Vega cracks Jones with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Jones lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Jones tries to clinch up but Vega circles away and keeps his distance.
A big right from Jones misses.
Vega rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jones moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jones is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Vega's half guard.
Jones seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Vega does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Jones tries to close the distance and clinch but Vega swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Lucas Jones hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Vega comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Lucas Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Vega feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Joness jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Jones is still on wobbly legs! Can Vega finish him?

Vega drops Jones with a big left hand! Jones is injured, injured bad! Vega jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!

After the fight, Sergio Vega was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
