Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Melvin Manhoef!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Antony Biistron!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Donatello Bradman and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manhoef shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Biistron eats them both and turns towards Manhoef to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Biistron shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Manhoef is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Biistron cracks Manhoef with a solid left hand.
Biistron pushes down on Manhoef's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Biistron not doing much here.
Biistron's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Biistron frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Biistron takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Biistron working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Manhoef turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Biistron off and cradles Manhoef's limp body as Biistron celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Antony Biistron!
