The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sugawara will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Sugawara tries to clinch up.
No luck for Kimimaro with that takedown attempt.
Kimimaro lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sugawara circles away quickly and effectively.
Sugawara shoots in looking for a takedown but Kimimaro manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sugawara's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Sugawara lands with a nice body punch.
Sugawara shoots in but Kimimaro avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Naoto Sugawara. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sugawara tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kimimaro shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sugawara but Sugawara pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Kimimaro throws a nice looking combination but Sugawara bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Kimimaro forces Sugawara back against the cage and clinches.
Sugawara tries to pull guard but Kimimaro forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Sugawara is fighting off a takedown attempt but Kimimaro is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Sugawara to the mat. Sugawara regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kimimaro with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Sugawara has momentary wrist control but Kimimaro slips an elbow through the middle.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kimimaro maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Sugawara could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Kimimaro has cracked it and Sugawara is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Kimimaro!
