PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Blaz Metelko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Terry Concklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Blaz Metelko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Terry Concklin!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Glass and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Concklin moves into the clinch.
Metelko working hard to break the clinch.
Metelko has had enough of the clinch but Concklin keeps him there for the moment.
Concklin is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Concklin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Concklin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Concklin lands in his opponent's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Concklin gets to his feet. Metelko looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Metelko throws a left and a right that both miss

and Concklin counters by clinching up.

Concklin lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Concklin controlling the pace.

Concklin stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Concklin tries a head kick but it misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Metelko throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Some wild striking there from Metelko.

Metelko tries to keep at a distance but Concklin has taken the fight into the clinch.

Concklin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Concklin tries to clinch up but Metelko circles away and keeps his distance.

Concklin has closed the distance and engaged Metelko in a clinch.

Concklin turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The referee asks Concklin politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Concklin prefers to stall for the moment though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Metelko trying to remain calm as Concklin controls from the top position.
Concklin lands a decent elbow from side control.

Concklin decides to take the fight back to the feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Concklin darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Concklin trying to control the pace.
It looks like Concklin might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Metelko is trying to stand up here but Concklin is controlling him well.
Concklin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Metelko with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Concklin controlling the action here.
Concklin uses his free foot to push down on Metelko's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Metelko.
Metelko gives up his back whilst trying to strike.
Concklin is riding his opponent, not letting Metelko buck him off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Concklin scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Metelko is looking for a way out.
Concklin throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Metelko!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Terry Concklin dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Concklin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Concklin has hold of Metelko's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Metelko seems comfortable defending it but Concklin has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Metelko is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Metelko is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Concklin couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Terry Concklin!
