Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joao Goncalves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Goncalves has chosen TNT as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ricky Patterson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joao Goncalves! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Patterson moves to clinch but Goncalves breaks away and Goncalves counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Goncalves tries to bum rush Patterson with a series of wild strikes but Patterson uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Patterson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Goncalves to the mat! Goncalves manages to get full guard. Patterson showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Patterson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Patterson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We're going to have a standup here because Ricky Patterson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Patterson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Goncalves swats away the attempt to clinch by Patterson. Patterson shoots in and drives through. Goncalves sprawls well. Goncalves throws a looping overhand right but Patterson ducks down to avoid it. Patterson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Goncalves, pushing him back against the cage. Patterson prevents Goncalves from breaking the clinch. Goncalves tries to break free but Patterson pushes him back against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Patterson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Goncalves's efforts to push away. Patterson wants the takedown. Goncalves is fighting it off but Patterson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Goncalves's guard against the cage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Patterson throws a big elbow that misses. Patterson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Goncalves's guard. Patterson's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Ricky Patterson has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Patterson moves into the clinch successfully.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Patterson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Goncalves's efforts to push away. A frustrated look appears on Patterson's face as he tries to break the clinch. Patterson is stalling here.
Goncalves manages to break the clinch.
Goncalves misses the shot to the body. Goncalves lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. A punch combination from Goncalves misses. Goncalves throws the left hand but Patterson avoids the punch easily. Goncalves looks winded! Patterson throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Goncalves throws the left hand but Patterson avoids the punch easily. Goncalves looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Goncalves throws a hook but Patterson avoids it easily. Joao Goncalves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Patterson ducks under a wild hook from Goncalves. Patterson misses with a low kick. Joao Goncalves is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Patterson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Patterson works a leg free and moves into half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Goncalves can do anything to dispel that myth. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Patterson is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Goncalves! Goncalves takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Patterson is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Goncalves is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Goncalves flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Patterson anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Goncalves and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Patterson slips an arm under Goncalves chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Patterson has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Patterson is squeezing on Goncalves like an anaconda would it's prey. Goncalves fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
