Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergey Gribov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arnold Rimmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arnold Rimmer has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sergey Gribov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Arnold Rimmer!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rimmer swings for the body but Gribov moves out of range.

Gribov manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Rimmer on his heels. He'll look to pass Rimmer's guard now, I'm sure.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Gribov controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Gribov holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Rimmer wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gribov has him pressed against the cage.
Gribov is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Rimmer looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Arnold Rimmer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Rimmer cracks Gribov with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Rimmer is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gribov.

Rimmer lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Gribov shoots in but Rimmer avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Rimmer stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Gribov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rimmer pinned against the cage. Rimmer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Rimmer throws a looping overhand right but Gribov ducks down to avoid it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gribov cracks Rimmer with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Rimmer tries to lock up and control but Gribov gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Gribov wants to control the pace but Rimmer is squirming around nicely.

Rimmer's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

BOOM! Gribov connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gribov, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
