The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Raisi closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rooney quickly recovers to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Raisi is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Rooney has managed to free his arm - good work.
Rooney pushes Raisi off looking to stand but Raisi dives back in and keeps control.
Raisi trying to mount his opponent but Rooney defends it.
Raisi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Raisi stops Rooney from getting back to his feet.
Rooney has a hand on Raisi's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Raisi takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Rooney wants to hold on but Raisi pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kalle Raisi dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Rooney throws an overhand right that lands on Raisi's shoulder, as Raisi tries to avoid the shot.
Raisi lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Raisi.
Raisi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rooney circles away quickly and effectively.
Rooney misses with a hook. Raisi ducked under it nicely.
Raisi throws a head kick that misses.
Raisi wants to clinch up but Rooney keeps it at a distance.
The fighters circling - Raisi throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Raisi fails with the takedown
letting Rooney counter with a right hand.


It looks like Kalle Raisi has been cut.
Raisi tries to close the distance and clinch but Rooney swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Raisi shoots in for a takedown but Rooney shows good takedown defense.

Wazza Rooney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kalle Raisi.

Rooney got a little sloppy there for a moment and Raisi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rooney has managed to get both his arms back between Raisi's legs - danger averted.
Raisi throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Raisi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rooney doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rooney manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kalle Raisi decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
