Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Stoney Chokem!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jay Matsuo!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Felipe Paraventi and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chokem shoots in for a double leg but Matsuo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Chokem tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Matsuo counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Matsuo missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Matsuo throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Matsuo wants to pass to mount but Chokem is defending the position.

Matsuo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Chokem sees it coming and defends easily.

Matsuo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Chokem is just riding it out for now. Matsuo eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Matsuo throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Chokem was covering up waiting for the punch and Matsuo finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Matsuo darts in and clinches Chokem up against the cage.

Chokem using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Matsuo has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Matsuo has Chokem pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Matsuo pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Chokem tumbling to the mat - Matsuo dives into Chokem's guard.
Matsuo wants to pass the guard but Chokem is keeping the position.

Matsuo gets to his feet. Chokem looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Chokem is defended easily by Matsuo.
Sloppy strikes from Matsuo. Those never looked like landing.
Chokem closes the distance but Matsuo moves to the side
and Matsuo counters with a head kick.

Chokem tries for a takedown but Matsuo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Matsuo clinches up with Chokem and pushes him back against the cage.

Matsuo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Matsuo counters with a nice body shot.

Matsuo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Matsuo lands in his opponent's guard.

Chokem is letting Matsuo control him for a moment.

Matsuo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Matsuo just content to control the position.
Jay Matsuo has got the better of the ground game so far.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Matsuo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Chokem throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Matsuo blocks it with crossed arms.
Matsuo on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Matsuo has Chokem pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Matsuo pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Chokem tumbling to the mat - Matsuo dives into Chokem's guard.
Matsuo postures up in Chokem's guard and throws a big left but Chokem blocks it.
Chokem is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Matsuo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Matsuo is stalling in the full guard.
Matsuo is pushing down on Chokem's leg trying to pass to half guard. Chokem is fighting to maintain full guard but Matsuo has managed to sneak the leg through.

Matsuo is looking for a kimura but Chokem is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Matsuo to get the leverage.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jay Matsuo hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Chokem fails in his attempt to clinch.
Matsuo throws a head kick but Chokem moves out of range.

Jay Matsuo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Matsuo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
