PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ivar Brevig (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Dunham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ivar Brevig!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ryan Dunham!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dunham keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Brevig throws a series of punches but Dunham avoids them all with ease.
Brevig misses with a takedown attempt

and Dunham moves into the clinch.

Dunham has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Brevig regains guard immediately.

Dunham gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Dunham avoids a punch combination nicely.
Dunham keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ivar Brevig. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Brevig misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Brevig closes the distance but Dunham moves to the side

and Dunham counters with a shoot takedown. Brevig fights it but they end up in guard.

Brevig looking for a guillotine here but Dunham defends easily.
Dunham wants to control from the top but Brevig keeps moving.
Dunham slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Brevig can't keep his opponent in guard - Dunham advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Dunham is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Dunham looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Dunham has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dunham won't let Brevig get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Brevig slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Dunham is looking for a kimura but Brevig is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dunham to get the leverage.
Dunham trying to mount his opponent but Brevig defends it.
Brevig is trying to get back to full guard.
Brevig tries to kick Dunham off in order to stand up. Dunham Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Dunham has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Brevig throws a nice looking combination but Dunham bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Dunham has managed to clinch.

Dunham gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Dunham gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Brevig fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Brevig tries for a takedown but Dunham circles away easily

and Dunham counters with a single leg into guard. Brevig didn't expect that.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dunham stops Brevig from standing up.
Dunham trying to control the position from guard on top but Brevig is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Brevig can't keep his opponent in guard - Dunham advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Dunham is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Brevig is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Dunham wants to take a breather but Brevig is having none of it.

Dunham is working for a kimura but Brevig is defending it quite comfortably.
Brevig pushes Dunham off looking to stand but Dunham dives back in and keeps control.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Dunham dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Brevig misses with a wild combination.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Dunham.

Dunham working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Brevig throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

Dunham decides to stand back up. Dunham steps back and let's Brevig get back to his feet.

Brevig throws a series of punches but Dunham moves out of range.
Brevig shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dunham defends it nicely.
Brevig wants to clinch but Dunham slips to the side

and Dunham counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Dunham seems to be working for a kimura but Brevig defends the submission attempt.
Dunham slows the pace down in half guard.

Dunham looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Dunham is working for a kimura but Brevig is defending it quite comfortably.

Dunham is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Brevig is not content to let Dunham control the position.
Brevig wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dunham is looking for a kimura here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Brevig tries to roll over but Dunham keeps him under control.
Ryan Dunham has got the better of the ground game so far.

Brevig is refusing to be controlled, as Dunham sits in half guard.

Dunham decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Brevig shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dunham pinned against the cage. Dunham gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Dunham is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Brevig doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Dunham.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Dunham showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Brevig tries to clinch but Dunham is having none of it.

Dunham closes the distance and pushes Brevig back into the cage.

Dunham has clasped his hands together around Brevig's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Brevig tries to improve position but can't.
Dunham wants to control but Brevig is keeping him busy.
Brevig is trying to get back to his feet.

Dunham has hold of Brevig's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Brevig seems comfortable defending it but Dunham has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Brevig is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Brevig is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Dunham couldn't care less - he's delighted!
