Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jose Mera! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chaiyo Tao! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tao looks to score with a jab to the body but Mera is just out of range. Mera takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Tao gets a takedown into half guard. Mera is positioning himself well to prevent Tao advancing to mount. Tao wants to stand but Mera has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Tao thows an elbow strike that misses. Mera gets hold of full guard and has managed to get a loose guillotine attempt. Tao doesn't seem too bothered but Mera quickly shifts his position and has tightened the hold! Tao is in big trouble now - he's going a funny colour - he's tapping out! Nice finish there! Tao really should have spotted the danger earlier though... either incompetence or over-confidence has resulted in a big L on his record.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jose Mera!
