Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Karl Kunnas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicky Santoro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Karl Kunnas has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Karl Kunnas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nicky Santoro!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Santoro tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kunnas swivels and escapes.
Kunnas walks into a left hand.
Santoro connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Santoro is defended easily by Kunnas.
Santoro throws a looping overhand right but Kunnas ducks down to avoid it.

Santoro closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kunnas circles away.
Karl Kunnas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nicky Santoro.
Santoro lands a nice shot that snaps Kunnas's head back.
Santoro stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Santoro shoots in and drives through. Kunnas sprawls well.
Santoro throws a hook but Kunnas blocks it.

Santoro fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Santoro dives in and grabs Kunnas's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kunnas pushes down on Santoro's head and hops out.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Santoro.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
You can see the frustration on Kunnas's face as Santoro controls the position.

Kunnas wants to control but Santoro postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Santoro tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Santoro has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Santoro throws an elbow but Kunnas slips to the side and avoids it well.

Santoro tries for a kimura but Kunnas is defending well.

Santoro tries to score with some ground and pound. Kunnas controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Santoro wants to control but Kunnas is keeping him busy.
Santoro tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Kunnas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Santoro on the ground.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Santoro scores with a couple of short elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nicky Santoro dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Santoro misses with a two punch combination.
Kunnas stuffs the takedown.
Kunnas uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Santoro.
Santoro connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kunnas. Kunnas circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Kunnas takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Kunnas walks into a left hand.

Santoro tries to clinch but Kunnas is having none of it.
Nicky Santoro is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Santoro shoots in but no luck this time.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Horrible takedown by Santoro or perhaps it was just good defense by Kunnas which made him look bad.
Santoro dives in and grabs Kunnas's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kunnas pushes down on Santoro's head and hops out.

Nicky Santoro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Santoro tests Kunnas's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Santoro throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kunnas.

Santoro looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Santoro throws out a loose jab but Kunnas uses good head movement to avoid it.
Santoro scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nicky Santoro showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Santoro tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kunnas paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Santoro swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Santoro tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kunnas was well out of range. Poor timing from Santoro.

Santoro dives in and grabs Kunnas's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kunnas pushes down on Santoro's head and hops out.

Kunnas leaves Santoro with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Santoro ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kunnas moves away.
Karl Kunnas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Santoro jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Santoro fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kunnas avoids it really well and circles away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nicky Santoro comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Santoro has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
