The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donk. Boykin catches Creed right on the button with a cross.

It looks like Apollo Creed has been cut.
Boykin showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Creed.
Creed throws a hook to the side of Boykin's head but Boykin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Boykin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Creed manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Creed can do anything to dispel that myth.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Boykin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Boykin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Creed really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Boykin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Boykin passes Creed's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Boykin is taking a breather. Creed says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Boykin wants to work for an arm triangle but Creed is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
