Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ted Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane MacLain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). MacLain has chosen Drowning Pool - Bodies (Let The Bodies Hit The Floor as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ted Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane MacLain! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith misses with a series of wild punches.
MacLain throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Smith was covering up waiting for the punch and MacLain finishes the takedown easily into guard. Smith working for a triangle but MacLain defends it easily.
MacLain loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. MacLain trying to control but Smith is working from the bottom. Smith looking to hit a scissor sweep but MacLain is one step ahead there. Smith controls MacLain momentarily but MacLain frees himself. Smith wants to sweep here but MacLain controlling him for the moment. Smith escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. MacLain gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's one minute gone in the round. MacLain distracts Smith with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. MacLain tries to stand but Smith is controlling from the bottom. Smith looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
MacLain trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. MacLain avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Smith is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. MacLain is aware though and is defending well. Smith manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. MacLain manages to get himself to full guard.
Smith distracts MacLain with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. MacLain utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Smith accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. MacLain looking for a guillotine here but Smith defends easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. MacLain swivels though and keeps the full guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Smith is looking to work some ground and pound but MacLain has wrist control. MacLain looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Smith is pushing down on MacLain's leg trying to pass to half guard. MacLain is fighting to maintain full guard but Smith has managed to sneak the leg through. Smith has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Smith sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. MacLain defending well though. Smith decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. MacLain throws an overhand right that lands on Smith's shoulder, as Smith tries to avoid the shot. MacLain slips a straight right by Smith. MacLain keeps the fight on the outside. MacLain closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - MacLain lands in his opponent's guard. Smith is adopting a defensive guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Smith is looking for a triangle but MacLain pushes his legs off easily.

MacLain is trying to control the action in half guard but Smith is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Smith wants to control but MacLain is keeping busy and won't allow it. Smith actively working from the bottom here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. MacLain seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. MacLain throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Smith blocking the ground and pound attempt from MacLain. Smith avoiding damage under a succession of punches from MacLain. Smith looking for submissions off his back. MacLain throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! MacLain wants to lay and pray for a moment but Smith keeps working. MacLain wants to work for an arm triangle but Smith is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Smith is looking to improve his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. MacLain thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Smith's head. MacLain sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Smith defending well though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ted Smith will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!

MacLain drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smith is looking to reverse the position. MacLain working the head with strikes. Smith is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Smith is looking for a sweep. MacLain lands an elbow. Smith tries to get back to half guard but can't. MacLain grinds an elbow into Smith's temple. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Smith isn't going anywhere. Smith is trying to get back to half guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
That's one minute gone in the round. MacLain works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. MacLain scoring with punches and elbows. MacLain working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Smith wants to control but MacLain postures up. MacLain is trying to get an arm triangle but Smith is defending well. MacLain misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
MacLain cracks Smith with a big elbow. Smith can't do much from the bottom here. Smith is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked MacLain off and has taken his back! Smith is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften MacLain up.
Smith thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Smith looking for the RNC. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Smith controlling well, preventing MacLain from escaping the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith looking to break MacLain's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. MacLain remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Smith will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! MacLain turns into Smith and is now in his guard.

MacLain wants to get up but he can't break Smith's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Smith wants to sweep here but MacLain controlling him for the moment. MacLain looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. MacLain doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. MacLain manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Smith has his foot on MacLain's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. MacLain works his way back into a safe position though. MacLain must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. MacLain connects with a couple of short punches.

Shane MacLain has got the better of the ground game so far. MacLain wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving. MacLain won't allow Smith to sweep him here. MacLain makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. MacLain is working Smith over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Smith has a closed guard, preventing MacLain from standing up. MacLain is looking to work some ground and pound but Smith has wrist control. MacLain throws a big elbow that misses. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! MacLain throws a big right hand that misses. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Smith trying to control the position here. MacLain lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shane MacLain showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Smith looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Smith throws a nice looking combination but MacLain bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. MacLain shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Smith's guard. MacLain got a little sloppy there for a moment and Smith has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, MacLain has managed to get both his arms back between Smith's legs - danger averted. MacLain with a nice head shot there. Smith looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's one minute gone in the round. MacLain drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and MacLain jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Smith wants to sweep but no luck. Smith looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Smith is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. MacLain stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard. Smith trying to keep a closed guard but MacLain is proving a slippery customer.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ted Smith just wasn't active enough. MacLain dodges the punch combination from Smith.

Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. MacLain pushes Smith up against the cage in a clinch. MacLain avoiding damage.
Smith throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but MacLain blocks it with crossed arms. Smith tries to land knees in the clinch but MacLain avoids the damage to the body. MacLain gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. This has been an exciting period of action! Smith escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. MacLain gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. MacLain is looking to stand up but Smith won't let him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. MacLain lands a couple of digs. Smith keeping moving, preventing MacLain from controlling successfully. MacLain is in close to Smith's body, working some short punches and elbows. MacLain wants to pass the guard but Smith is keeping the position. Smith working a defensive guard here.
