Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Betts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JJ Sbronson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, JJ Sbronson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Betts with that takedown attempt.
Sbronson tries to clinch but Betts moves out of range.
Betts fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Betts is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sbronson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aaron Betts. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Betts shoots in but Sbronson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Sbronson shoots in looking for a takedown but Betts manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sbronson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Sbronson shoots for a double leg takedown but Betts sprawls well. He's pushed Sbronson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sbronson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Betts swivels and escapes.

Betts shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sbronson defends it nicely.

Sbronson leaves Betts with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Sbronson rushes Betts and presses him up against the cage.

Sbronson decides to pull guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Sbronson striking off his back but it's not causing Betts any problems.

Betts has gone for a leg lock! Sbronson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Betts's guard.
Betts controlling the position.
Sbronson trying to control the position from guard on top but Betts is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Betts has his foot on Sbronson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sbronson works his way back into a safe position though.
Betts is breathing heavily.

Betts wants to sweep here but Sbronson controlling him for the moment.
Sbronson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Sbronson trying to control the position from guard on top but Betts is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Betts is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Betts is adopting a defensive guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. JJ Sbronson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Sbronson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Betts clinches up against the cage.
Betts lands a left hand that snaps the head of Sbronson backwards.
Sbronson is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Betts's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Betts swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Betts is defended easily by Sbronson.
No luck for Sbronson with that takedown attempt.

Sbronson tries to clinch up.
Betts lands with a shot to the body.
Betts shoots for a double leg takedown but Sbronson sprawls well. He's pushed Betts's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sbronson wants to clinch.

Sbronson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Betts, pushing him back against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Betts breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Aaron Betts will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Betts scores with a head kick. Sbronson tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Betts gets a clinch.
Sbronson can't break the clinch.
Sbronson fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Betts can't get the takedown.
Betts lands a right hand that snaps the head of Sbronson backwards.
Sbronson is trying to stall.

Betts pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Betts gets tackled into the cage by Sbronson. Sbronson maintains the clinch.

Betts breaks from the clinch.
Sbronson tries to close the distance and clinch but Betts swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Betts dives in and grabs Sbronson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sbronson pushes down on Betts's head and hops out.

Sbronson doesn't manage to clinch there - Betts circles away.
Betts shoots in looking for a takedown. Sbronson tries to sprawl out of it but Betts keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sbronson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aaron Betts. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Betts closes the distance and pushes Sbronson back into the cage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sbronson gets underhooks to prevent Betts's takedown attempt.
Betts jumps guard but Sbronson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
A frustrated look appears on Sbronson's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Sbronson is trying to drag Betts to the mat but Betts just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Sbronson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Betts is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

A hook to the body from Betts.
Betts scores with a shot to the side of Sbronson's head.
Sbronson fails to pull guard.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Betts takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Betts is on top in guard.

Betts stands up from Sbronson's guard - Betts perhaps looking for a knockout.
Betts shoots in for a takedown but Sbronson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
No luck for Sbronson with that takedown attempt.
Betts shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sbronson but Sbronson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Sbronson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Betts counters with a two punch combo.
Betts misses with the combination.

Betts blocks a head kick by Sbronson.

Betts rushes Sbronson and presses him up against the cage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Sbronson tries to pull guard but Betts holds him up against the cage and eventually Sbronson drops back down to his feet.
Betts lands a good knee to the midsection. Sbronson won't want to take too many of those.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Betts holds on and takes a little breather.
Betts is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Betts controlling the action here.
Sbronson wants to control but Betts is keeping busy.

Betts seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Sbronson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Sbronson tries for a takedown but Betts sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Sbronson wants to clinch.
Aaron Betts is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Betts throws a nice inside leg kick.

Sbronson ducks right into an uppercut from Betts.
Betts fails with a takedown attempt.
Decent striking displayed by Betts there.
Betts throws a sloppy head kick and Sbronson moves out of range easily.

Betts fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sbronson avoids it really well and circles away.

Sbronson shoots in and gets a takedown into Betts's guard.
Betts pulls Sbronson in to control the position.
Sbronson trying to control but Betts is working from the bottom.

Betts looking for a guillotine here but Sbronson defends easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Betts has control of Sbronson's left arm, preventing Sbronson from doing any damage.

Well Betts has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
