Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Barnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Lawson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barnes comes to the ring accompanied by Black Eyed Peas - Imma Be. Lawson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Another Victory kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Frankie Barnes has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Eric Lawson!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes lands a nice looking body shot.
Barnes lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Lawson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Barnes swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Barnes scores with the left hand. Lawson knows he should have avoided that one.
Lawson keeps Barnes at a distance using the push kick.
Lawson throws a leg kick which misses Barnes's front leg but catches the back leg as Barnes tries to avoid it.
Barnes on the wrong end of a nice jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lawson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Barnes moves away.
Barnes's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Lawson connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Barnes scrambles back to his feet.
Lawson looks to throw a body kick
and Barnes counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
That kick from Barnes tenderised Lawson's leg. Lawson is trying to keep his angry face on.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Barnes buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Lawson lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Frankie Barnes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Barnes cracks the inside of Lawson's front leg.
Barnes ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Lawson.
A chopping leg kick lands by Barnes.
Barnes with a body punch. A glancing blow.
A telegraphed right hand from Lawson misses the target.
Barnes jabs at Lawson's body.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Lawson checks a leg kick.
A low kick from Barnes misses
and Lawson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Barnes misses with a hook
and Lawson counters with a straight right hand.
Lawson closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Barnes scores with a hook.
Lawson throws a lazy uppercut

and Barnes counters by moving into the clinch.
Barnes blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Barnes doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Barnes pushes Lawson back against the ropes and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Barnes landing knees to the head.
Lawson is struggling to control the position.
Lawson is trying to break the clinch but Barnes has him pressed against the ropes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lawson has a couple of punches blocked by Barnes.
Barnes throws an elbow that misses.
Barnes tries to throw a body punch but Lawson avoids it by throwing Barnes back against the ropes.
Barnes misses with a punch to the body.
Barnes lands a left hand.
Barnes tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Lawson avoids it.
With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Lawson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Lawson tries to stall but Barnes uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Lawson lands a hook to the side of the head.
Barnes misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Lawson.
Barnes with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Barnes swings wildly with an uppercut but Lawson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Lawson wants to stall.
A short body shot lands from Barnes as the two fighters clinch.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Barnes is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.
Barnes lands a knee to the body.
Barnes with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Barnes creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Lawson's defenses.


It looks like Eric Lawson has been cut.
Barnes tries to land knees in the clinch but Lawson avoids the damage to the body.
Barnes tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Barnes scores with a nice hook to the head.
Barnes lands with a left to the head.


Lawson is rocked!
Barnes has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head that stumbles Lawson - he's in trouble! Another big knee to the head from Barnes, and another! Lawson is out on his feet - the ref jumps in to save him and ends the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Frankie Barnes!

In his post fight interview, Frankie Barnes started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
